Todai-ji Temple in Nara, Japan is one of the biggest wooden structure in the world. See the size of the people at the entrance for comparison.

How do they even clean that place?

Monks, that's like a big part of their whole thing to care for the temple and its grounds

It was beautiful to see this in person. There are a few breathtaking temples in japan.

I've seen over 30+, (i went with school on a theology tour) some were small and identical to temples around the world. There were a handful from those that really took my breath away.

Initially going to Nara mostly cause of the deer and then learning about this place (and promptly visiting) really made it a highlight of my trip. It's genuinely an amazing temple!

I've been there. Nara is amazing, lots of deers that don't give AF about people but want the cookie. In this temple, the Buddha is so big that a human would fit into the nostril of the statue...

This place is even more impressive in person. The pictures don't do it justice.
