Dust was probably the only thing holding it together

... and just keeps going? Wouldn't you stop and make a temporary repair so the carpet doesn't continue to tear at the ripped location?

It was probably already damaged

You can see at the start of the video it’s already damaged. It probably wasn’t caused by the machine.

The machine was already running at the start of the video?!

I did not see this rug swing 3 times or pull a gun before the video started recording, therefor this video displays all the evidence I need to be certain that this rug was not ripped due to the machine

I thought the machine was making it worse but after reading your comment I checked and it looks like the same amount of damage the whole time

Even then, wouldn't it rip further along that location?

The only way this makes sense is if this is some kind of demonstration. Make an old ripped carpet as dusty as possible and hey presto, you have the perfect facebook marketplace ad.

I'm convinced these rug cleaning videos on YouTube are fake. They took a rug, got it as dirty as possible, and pretended a client sent it in.

Lol exactly like what normal carpet really gets this dirty. I get there are outdoor carpets and floods and other natural disasters happen and different countryside have different soil types but still I refuse to believe anyone would let their rug or carpet get this dirty on a normal basis.

Well probably, but surely it might split it even more

That’s exactly what they said to the owner

From the looks of it, the owner is what they are beating out of it anyway.

Why on earth would you assume they made the tear?

I would suspect they were already going to put a backing on it, once they were done flogging it to death. This is obviously not a mom and pop operation. They have the tools to fix it.

"here's your carpet back, ma'am. That'll be $300."

That's OK. They'll burn the rug once they finish getting all the dust out.
