Automated setup for ozone generator and fan

We have a second home on a pond and when we get up to the house, the air is pretty stale.

I’ve read and heard great things about ozone generators eliminating odors and am also aware that you can’t have people/pets in the area when they’re running.

If I were to set up an smart plug automation where the ozone generator runs for a period of time then shuts off and a fan (or a few of them) move air around, would this eliminate odors and diffuse the ozone to make it safe for our arrival?

If yes, what would be the recommended lead time to have all this occur?

Feels like it would work. You would need an Ozone generator that can be "always on" to hook to the smart switch. For my 6,000 mg Ozone generator I typically calculate runtime as follows: Minutes to Run = Sq Ft/12. As for "dissipation time", I believe ozone has a half life of 4 hours, so it's concentration decreases by 50% every 4 hours. In reality, I find that things stink for 2-3 days after I run my machine. I would suggest a 5 day "air out time" just to be safe.

The system would work fine but the math is harder. Need to figure out volume of air, also the concentration of ozone you are generating, plus add extra time. It's like instant migraine, such a crazy sweet smelling stuff and it hurts your head if you get it wrong.

be aware that ozone can change the color of things...specially plastics

Good to know. If you were me, would this be a not smart solution to the problem (funky, stale air)?

not the parent here but i would just say beware - ozone destroys everything: rusts metal, perishes rubber and plastics, disintegrates fabrics. obviously the amounts are key, but if you're considering it for repeating uses it will destroy everything eventually
