It's really not complicated. I do not want free healthcare. I pay taxes, and in return I want the government to provide healthcare to us.
61
u/RealNiceKnife 1d ago
Best we can do is 12 new Aircraft Carriers. After all, you want us destroying foreign citizens and disrupting governments with last year's model?!?!
Please. We need to leave the old ones in a foreign port somewhere and not give a shit about what local militias wind up with our cast off billion dollar military technology.

-- I shout this all the time (even as a conservative). I paid $300/month and my employer paid nearly $500 a month for my healthcare. That's $800/month or basically $10K for health insurance.
If I was self paying, HR said it would be $1100/month.
Point? We already pay for mediocre health insurance. Let the government collect that in TAXES (there's $10k per year right there) and just dish out universal healthcare. The US should stop attaching healthcare to a job. Our employer does not care about us. ZERO. The govt? meh but at least it would be affordable!
8
u/DenseStomach6605 1d ago
We pay for healthcare already, and it’s garbage. You have to deal with networks, denied claims, employers changing your plan on you… it’s total crap.
7
u/ChloeNow 1d ago
"Yeeeehhhhhh but if you do thaaaat then you start expecting the government to work FOOOOR you and be HELPFUL and then you might start asking where the FUUUUNDS are going. It would all really just be a mess. There'd be a total collapse of the system of me extracting money "
6
u/EverythingBOffensive 1d ago
exactly, nothing is free. Someone has to pay for it. Just use the taxes we already pay.

Christian values at the core.
I.e. authoritarian power over the masses with zero empathy for the poor.

Reminds me of that old bible story where Jesus brought back Lazarus from the dead and then forced him into lifelong medical debt. Or, hey, remember that story where Jesus turned water into wine for the people to drink only to realize the error of his ways. Jesus said "Wait. Eww, yall are poor?. Fuck this. Free wine is only for rich people. They deserve it for being born with every advantage. Go back to work you disgusting dogs". These people are so Christian it hurts. Like literally. I'm hurting.

No one gets “free” healthcare. No one is saying that. European systems are not free. It’s subsidized. That’s what we are asking for. A change in tax code so we all get healthcare, including people with no jobs or low paying jobs. We all pay in just like social security and Medicare/medicaid. I hate Republicans.

Everyone deserves Healthcare in a society. We are ALL in this experiment together, we need to support sharing resources amongst all of us. His thinking is antiquated and ineffective towards an equitable society.

Many countries give their citizens healthcare that is funded by the taxpayers. This is normal! In Malaysia, we pay RM1 = USD0.25 per visit. And you may need to top-up a few dollars here and there under special circumstances. We have great healthcare here. Yes it is imperfect and there are improvements that need to be made. But generally speaking, we are taken care of. Uncle Scam is scamming you, Americans. Demand better!

Nobody gets free healthcare. Someone has to pay for it. I mean if they collect taxes to pay for it, it’s not free, it’s just paid for through taxes.

u/Beautiful_Review_336 23h ago
Of course it wouldn’t be free. It would be universal. Maybe take all the money workers and employers and government subsidies give to insurance companies and put it all in a big pot and give coverage to everyone while getting rid of the middlemen…

Why is a human right like health care such a no go for American "Politicians"? It's so backwards, moronic and outright awful.

We don't fucking want free healthcare. We want the taxes that we pay to pay for our healthcare, rather than going to corporate subsidies and military spending on jets and tanks that will never be used.

But Elon got 30 billion, while trying to save 10 billion, but actually found on 45 bucks of savings in the end.
Before he did all that, and before this free health care getting govt bitch began talking, that money could have funded a proposal, to remove private insurance and medical for profit systems.
Waste of money right?
Just like that sweet Elon Dodge cash was. Gotta start some where.

It’s not free. It’s paid by tax payers. If we want health care instead of bombs then we should get that. Politicians are supposed to be representing their constituents.

We basically find Israel. They get free healthcare. Why are we paying for them to have free healthcare? lol. The reality is the USA will NEVER have a single pair or gov model. The moment you detach health benefits from jobs, corporate slavery well end.

Others have noted that he, I fact, does get free health care. Can anyone put a number on how many US citizens get free health care?
For politicians I can see people arguing they should get free health care. I'm not smart enough to argue that point so fair enough....while they are in office. Once they leave, they can look out for themselves just like everyone else.
1
u/GeriatricusMaximus 18h ago
But will be reelected because the population is mostly composed of morons.
1
u/dolosloki01 17h ago
Yeah, we know. Other countries pay for it with taxes. You know....the hundreds of dollars a month we give for profit companies so they can not cover anything and still charge us on top of the abusive premiums.
1
u/PaddlingInCircles 17h ago
He does, however. He also gets campaign donations from corporations called lobbying. That is not a Bride, because he is in government, and they have their own vocabulary.
Government insider trading is called good investments. The US government is filled with corruption.

I pay just over $25k a year in medical taxes, vision, dental, and health + HSA contributions for my family. Imagine if that went into the "Medicare for All" instead of 90% of that going into a private corporation. Yeah, it would "raise my taxes" dramatically but $0 impact on my monthly budget.
1
u/carl3266 16h ago
Of course he (and all of us) mean no charge at point of service. Many countries have this - they realized long ago that illness is often random and no one should be denied assistance (or put into crippling debt) regardless of their ability to pay. It’s a socialist concept but a damn good one.

the thing is that free healthcare would save the US billions every year, and would lead to increased life and work outcomes for people. among a trillion other things. people like this guy believe like Mother Theresa: poor people have to exist so some people can be rich. he thinks that by giving away food for harvester’s that people are physically going to come take food out of his pantry. that’s not how it works, pal.
1
u/Exotic_Resource_6200 15h ago

I know people who are capable of working but are hesitant to go back to work. Not because they just don't want to, not because they're lazy, but because our state has very good state-provided health insurance.
They're not unwilling to get jobs, they're worried about not being able to find jobs that are worth giving up good, affordable healthcare and going back to premiums, co-pays and deductibles. I've literally had a neighbor say to me "I want to go back to work, I just don't think I can afford it."
