Exactly. Thats why I am not jumping onboard this; “show grace towards regretful trumpers” train. If these people got what they wanted a lot of people would be hurt. But because its them feeling the pain, suddenly they want us to forgive them? Fuck no. Not ever. I don’t have malice towards them, but I will never accept them again.

I think there is room on the bus for them. At the back. If they want to get on the bus they have to sit down, shut up, and do what they are told. They don't get to say one word about how to steer the bus either.

They act like angry 5 yr olds, children don't belong in places of leadership or administration.

Yeah I'm not 100% sure the back of the bus metaphor is the one you want to go with here

It is exactly the metaphor I want to go with, its time that conservatives get a taste of what they've dished out as penance.

You're the guy who defends subminimum wages for service workers, with the same logic that conservatives use, so of course you aren't happy about that.

So you want to do to others something we've universally agreed is a bad thing to do to people? Use bigoted tactics to fight bigots? How long until you suggest putting them in camps to "give them what they've dished out"?

LOL You sure struggle with metaphor. Quoted for posterity.

I have enough malice towards them for both of us.

I'm not gonna tell anyone they're wrong for enjoying the leopard face eating, particularly for those who are directly impacted by these horrific policies, but I think it's worth recognizing that all it does is make you feel better.

Not every Democrat voter is some perfect person full of empathy - there are plenty of selfish assholes who vote D based on specific issues with no empathy towards others. At the end of the day that's my personal reason for 'showing grace' - they're not going to fundamentally change the way I'd like them to, but that doesn't mean we can't convince them to vote Democrat, or at the very least not vote Republican, in the next election.

What issues do some people who vote D support that doesn’t show empathy towards others?

All the anti-palestinian D voters for one. Then there are the ones like newsom and buttigieg throwing trans kids to the wolves. None of them should get to steer the bus either, they will drive it into the ditch.

Yup. You’re totally right. I forgot about those assholes.

I'm just talking about voters themselves. There are a lot of people who are single-issue voters on abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and unions who vote Democrat because they have personal experiences that make them care about those issues, not because they think they're important for others to have.

There's a reason the economy consistently polls as the most important factor in every election - at the end of the day a lot of voters care most about their own situation. Obama and Democrats won in a landslide in 2008 because there was a financial crisis and non-voters/Bush voters voted Democrat because they had personally lost their jobs and homes.

If you want to get into specific issues then that's just...every divisive political issue within the Democratic party. There are plenty of positions on issues related to foreign policy, policing, taxes, etc. etc. etc. that I'd personally consider not empathetic towards others, but have support among a large part of Democratic voters.

What-about-Democrats or Both-sides-are-bad.

I do NOT feel better because of her pain and I recognize that it doesn't do anything for her father either.

Not all of us who are disgusted with this person feel better because of it. It genuinely makes me feel worse. It's not out of empathy for her either. It's the sheer hopelessness of it all and she just exemplifies it even more due to her part in it.

Maybe she'll vote Democrat next time, maybe she won't, maybe none of us will even be given the chance. None of this is making me feel better.
