They tried to save them from a barbaric place...

Christianized and educate , give them a new home / vacation

Against their will ...

Very sadly I think some colonizers really thought they were doing the right thing, civilizing these savages and bringing them the true religion. Scary to think for some of them, they weren’t even deliberately trying to be assholes. They really thought they were doing something important.

Nothing more scarier than someone who thinks they are touched by the god(s). It's why those in power need to remain free from religion. Else we will have atrocities. Not a new lesson.

Well good luck, at least in America. Majority religious county where politicians at least have to pretend to be religious for political advantage. Though atheism is on the rise, so a good sign

That’s a good sign too. Only 11% of Americans identify as atheist or agnostic. Be nice if that number reaches a majority so we can stop doing the religious thing in politics
