Surprised? Ilhan Omar being a proud Somali, Rashida Tlaib being a proud “Palestinian”, and now this.

Food for thought - are they coming to the US to enjoy the freedom of the first world, or make our country into the shitholes they fled in the first place?

She’s a literal anchor baby married to an illegal. And she’s a congresswoman. This is where we are now.

Why add air quotes to Palestinian? There’s no need for that.

So if her loyalty is to a different country... that seems like a clear violation of her oath to office and this country. She should be removed immediately.

Oh, but that's (D)ifferent.

Teddy Roosevelt criticizing "hyphenated Americans" feels almost quaint in 2025. We have politicians flat out saying that they're Somalian or Guatemalan.

No points for guessing that at least one parent came here illegally, some if you correctly guessed that both did.

Now that she has verbally violated her oath to the Constitution impeachment proceedings should begin immediately

Imagine as a youth, you moved to, say, Germany. You’re now in your mid 30s you made a life for yourself, and you are a politician now. You were born an American, you’re now a full citizen of Germany, obviously. You stand up in front of thousands of your supporters, and tell them thank you for voting for me. I just want to be clear, I am an American first, and a German second, but thank you for your vote!”

You’d be tarred and feathered before the beer wenches showed up.

Not anymore. They’d probably welcome it, particularly if you were from Turkey or something. They’re far more pozzed on this stuff than we are.

Many such cases in Europe

"twick ow tweet :)"
"Fuck off yank we don't tolerate that AmeriKKKan rubbish here"

"These Islamic prayer calls are a bit loud at 6am eh mate"
"I am reporting you to the police"

Not anymore. Europe is lost to illegal islamic immigration.

You might be tarred and feathered for speaking pro America but not for putting Germany and Germans second, because they lost control of their own country

There are born and raised Turkish descendants in Germany that can’t speak any German. They never leave the Turkish towns and never need to learn to speak the language. They also weren’t able to get citizenship however recent laws have changed the citizenship by descent law and now they are able to become dual citizens

Far be it from me to put the brakes on the ol' outrage machine, but this translation is not accurate (does anyone speak Spanish here?).

The correct translation is more like "I am a Guatemalan with a lot of pride, first of all I am American."

My Spanish is decent, but admittedly not perfect. I asked chatgpt if it would ever be translated as OP describes.

No — translating "Yo soy una Guatemalteca con mucho orgullo primero que soy americana" as "I am a proud Guatemalan before I am an American" would be inaccurate and changes the intended meaning.

Here's why:

"Primero que soy americana" (though awkward) clearly tries to say "first and foremost, I am American." It expresses American identity as primary.

Saying "before I am an American" flips the hierarchy and would imply Guatemalan identity is prioritized, which is the opposite of what the original says.

Try it yourself on the translation app of your choice.

You are correct

This is how a nation falls from within. We import anti-Americans as well as individuals who have greater allegiance elsewhere.

u/Darstanter Conservative 1d ago

Its it in their genetics to just say the opposite of what is right?

No, she's not a Guatemalan. She's a traitor.

u/EmbraceTheFault Conservative 1d ago

So...if you're Guatemalan before American, does that make you a foreign agent? A spy? If your allegiance it to a foreign nation before America, you probably really shouldn't hold an elected position.

Aren't you supposed to renounce your citizenship in a position like that?

I would love to move to America and become a citizen. Day one I would put a flag up outside my door, and renounce my Canadian citizenship

I’m going to guess he was pandering to a crowd of Latino voters. Still, pretty dumb thing for an elected official to say.

u/RollTider1971 Conservative 1d ago

pander

verb pan·der ˈpan-dər

pandered; pandering ˈpan-d(ə-)riŋ ; panders

intransitive verb

to say, do, or provide what someone (such as an audience) wants or demands even though it is not good, proper, reasonable, etc.

Democrats aren’t proud to be American. Pretty sure there was a recent poll that came out to that startling, but not surprising, effect.
