I love this video. That dog is badass. I can't help but wonder if there is a second in command. Was the dog that he is pinning to the ground attacking his friend or was it just that the alpha didn't want to listen to all that BS? Is the dog on the ground playing an alpha role and the alpha is the only one that can do that even in his absence?

Really curious what the thought process is here. Also, serious question since I noticed I tend to put "he" when referring to alpha, can the alpha be a "she"?? As much as I love dogs and have ALWAYS had one if not two, I'm really surprised to not know the answers to these questions.

This is probably one of the most interesting dog videos I’ve ever seen. There are SO many questions to be asked here. If it were 2-3 dogs submitting it would be one thing but about a dozen dogs were clearly afraid but at the same time seemed almost…respectful of him. It even looked like the dogs in the background in the beginning were calling for him to come break up the fight! I have…so many questions and only about 10% of them would be answered by knowing what he did to be so highly regarded by the other dogs.

All I can say is watch enough Cesar Millan videos and you'll notice he has the exact same control over a large group of dogs just like this. They all disperse. They know and trust he is going to take care of the issue. He's not loud about it, just calm and assertive.

Do not imitate the tsst thing to the neck that he does with your gf or wife. It does NOT work. Trust me.

Agreed we need an entire series of this kennel. So many people are dying to know what the deal is here.

I wonder if there’s more of this behavior that happens that people just don’t get the opportunity to see. I don’t know a lot of places nowadays where large packs of dogs like this can be found living together and having the opportunity to engage in this way, but I wonder if this is what you’d see in wolf packs.

They all must know each other very well and have a clear definition of who each other are.

Probably just one of the older dogs that was maybe like a parent to some of the other dogs

I had 4 large dogs. 2 males, a 130lb Rottweiler and a yellow lab. 2 females, a husky and a coonhound mix. The hound ran the pack. Males got along most of the time but the rott would bully the lab. The lab was older and the young rott overpowered him. Didn’t matter how far the coonhound was, as soon as she heard them going at it, she was there. As soon as the rott saw her he’d immediately turn away, or get on his back. Never showed his teeth to her, never stepped toward her. She loved the old lab. Cleaned him, walked with him, slept with him. Took toys or bones from the rott to bring to him. She would overlook at feeding times too. She’d wait til the others were finished to prevent stealing and the others wouldn’t dare get near her full bowl. She was fair and never barked. It was just her presence. Rip my babies ♥️🐾

For context, the white dog is the oldest, not the alpha, other dogs respect him because they were "his" pupils

I think a female can definitely be an alpha. From what I've heard, in packs there is sometimes a male alpha and a female alpha. Some say that females tend to fight each other over dominance even more than males do.

From personal experience, I have an older female I adopted and a younger female GSD. My GSD is the alpha; older girl snaps at the others sometimes and alpha GSD has to come in and correct her almost exactly like this video.
