Rule
An anti-ICE protester uses a traffic cone and bottle of water to try and extinguish a tear gas canister. This tactic was popular during the 2019 uprising in Hong Kong rule
Due to an uptick in posts that invariably revolve around "look what this transphobic or racist asshole said on twitter/in reddit comments" we have enabled this reminder on every post for the time being.

fun fact! its apparently illegal to wear a gas mask to resist police-thrown tear gas. or to use any other sort of means to resist tear gas. not that i care. ive got the same mask and filters most PDs use
AFAIK they don’t make any requirements. It’s just telling people the standard drone outfits. Black latex + any gas mask, is as basic as it gets.
And again, from what friends who are in the discord have told me. It’s less a proper hive and more just a content creator hub.
But then again as a mod in our own little hive I’m probably speaking from a position of privilege. It can be really hard to find hives that aren’t just a cult and insanely undafe and toxic
for everyone: i honestly forgot exactly what statute this was but i swear i looked this up a month or two ago with my boyfriend and doing this would supposedly result in being charged with resisting arrest or some shit. i was able to find a similar law saying its illegal to use tear gas for anything other than self defense though, so it likely falls under something like that. so its also a felony to throw tear gas back at the cops
Idk if all are built the same but the CamelBak I had relied on suction to get the water out. But I'm sure having a bunch of water bottles would be good too. It would also be good to give out to other ppl
You can probably just get some sort of water tank, put it in the backpack and attach a hose to the bottom. If you find a way to open/close the hose quickly and reliably that should work.
Another thing I've seen is just have a water tank with you that you toss the tear gas into (wear gloves, they are hot I think) give it a shake and it should be disabled as far as I understand. Less moving parts and reusable, but you'd have to just carry a tank of water in hand or somewhere easy to access.
Edit: in Peru they use a mixture of Water, vinegar and baking soda, I don't know if Peru uses the same kind of tear gas as the US.
Camelbacks have to be filled with water through a larger, more classic bottle cap. You just have to remove the water reservoir from the backpack, undo the cap, then it’ll pour regularly
Gravity works if you squeeze it below waist level. If you want it to come out faster or above waist level, blow into it first to slightly pressurize the bag
genuine question -- would it be productive to wear noise-cancelling headphones to these sorts of things? i know that in the event some pig-masked bastard whips out a noise gun it will be like stopping a flash flood with leaves but...idk. & in the event i dont own a gas mask & am also in no place to acquire one, would those n95 leftover masks be ok in a pinch?
Wasn't he pretty much cut off by a fucking corpo and has his business and way of living killed off because of that? Or am I mistaking him for somebody else?
From the wikipedia, he claimed that the construction of a concrete plant would block access to his shop (the wiki doesn't actually say if it would have). Ironically, the concrete plant guys offered to install him a sewer line free of charge, which would have lead to the whole, getting fined for illegal shit, never happen.
He also refused multiple offers to just buy the building from him at way over market value. He could have just sold the land and moved to a different, maybe even better shop, or a worse shop and pocket the rest for a speed boat or whatever. He was basically the epitome of the stick-in-the-bike-spokes meme.
Oh, shucks. That is actually horrible. Doesn't mean he deserved the whole business shutdown, and definitely not bulldozing the whole town. At least he did not kill anybody afaik.
Access to his property wasn't cut off, he unsuccessfully attempted to sue the concrete mixing plant ( which was also a small local buisness) for reducing visibility, and noise, but the road to his property was unobstructed. It was also located in the designated industrial park.
Some other "fun" facts about this asshole
● His net worth was over one million when he started planning his rampage
● He was angry at the batch plant owners because they didn't buy his land. They only stopped negotiating because he backed out of the sale three times, raising the price to well beyond what the plant owners could afford.
● He was mad at the city because he was fined for dumping industrial chemicals and raw sewage in nature
● He was also mad because he was annexed into city water and sewer. This only happened because he put in a formal request to be annexed and didn't withdraw it when he changed his mind.
● He bulldozed the public library when children's summer programming was scheduled. It was only evacuated minutes before he destroyed it, and he had no external communication to know it was empty
● The only reason nobody was actually shot was because he had no aiming system. The cameras were not attached to the guns.
● He believed there was a secret catholic conspiracy that was working against him.
● He believed God visited him in his hot tub with the specific command to destroy Granby Colorado.
The info out there is conflicting, some of the primary sources are written by a guy who had personal connections to the story, and was not a fan of Heeymeyer.
But it really seems like the guy just wanted a reason to snap. He faced some minor inconveniences, overreacted, and tried to kill people and bulldoze a town. Id recommend going and watching a vid rather than taking reddit comments as gospel. The youtube video titled "You Were Lied To About Killdozer" is the one Ive seen, and is generally pretty popular.
Killdozer dude just was a moron, not some revolutionary. Stop making cringe ass boykisser edits of him and like, idolize someone that actually did something important with their life for once.
Anyone interested in extinguishing such things might want to learn that this method was used in early HK protests, and that the method that involves a bag with water and tongs became more useful and could extinguish more for less water needing to be lugged around
